BUSINESS PLANNING

This workshop covers the importance of writing a business plan if you are starting or buying a business, obtaining financing, and raising debt or equity capital. The business plan elements covered will clarify what is involved in making your business work successfully.

LEGAL ASPECTS

Learn the importance of selecting the right legal structure for your business; sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation (S Corporation, C Corporation, LLC). Basic contracts and business agreements will also be covered: vendor contracts, employee contracts, leases, notes and guarantees.

INTELLECTURAL PROPERTY BASICS – PATENTS, TRADEMARKS, & COPYRIGHTS

IP attorney Wade Neal will explain the differences between copyrights, trademarks and patents. You'll also learn about copyright and trademark registration, including the benefits of registration and the costs. You'll learn about who owns the copyright in a work created by more than one person and works created in the course of employment.
